The Feeling Before The Fabric
"Luxury is not attention. Luxury is certainty."
Before a garment is worn, before a silhouette takes shape, there is a feeling.
At Subellotti, every piece begins with carefully selected natural fibres chosen for softness, structure and the way they settle naturally over time. We believe true luxury is not created through excess, but through restraint — through materials that feel effortless from the first touch and continue to reward wear over the years.
Natural Fibres
We work exclusively with natural fibres. Cashmere for its unmatched softness and warmth-to-weight ratio. Merino for its breathability and resilience. Silk for the way it adds lustre and drape without weight. Cotton for the precision of its structure in warmer pieces.
Natural fibres behave differently to synthetics. They breathe. They regulate temperature. They soften with wear rather than degrading. A well-made natural fibre garment does not have a season — it has a lifespan.
Made in Umbria, Italy
Our pieces are produced in Umbria, a landlocked region in central Italy that has quietly sustained a tradition of fine knitwear for generations. The workshops here are not large. The people who work in them did not learn their craft in a classroom — they learned it from someone who had learned it before them.
This matters in ways that are difficult to quantify but easy to feel. The tension of a correctly finished cuff. The way a collar holds its shape after washing. The evenness of a cable knit across the full width of a chest. These are not details that can be automated. They require knowledge, patience and hands that understand the material.
Craftsmanship
Each Subellotti piece is fully fashioned — meaning it is knitted to shape rather than cut from a larger piece of fabric. This method produces less waste and results in a garment with cleaner seams, better structure and longer life.
Finishing is done by hand. The collar is attached, the cuffs are set, and the final inspection is carried out by the same people who made the piece. Nothing leaves the workshop without being checked.
Longevity by Design
We do not design for one season. We design for the next ten years. A Subellotti piece is intended to become a permanent part of a wardrobe — worn regularly, cared for correctly, and kept indefinitely.
This is not a marketing position. It is a practical consequence of the materials and methods we use. Good yarn, made well, lasts. That is the entirety of our approach.
