Every Subellotti garment begins with one question: what material and construction best serve the piece?
Selected for purpose
We select cashmere, fine wool, silk, premium cotton and considered blends according to softness, structure, warmth, breathability, weight, drape and intended use. The most prestigious-sounding composition is not automatically the right one; the material must support the garment.
More than composition
“100% cashmere” confirms fibre composition, but not the complete quality of a garment. Fibre selection, yarn preparation, ply, gauge, knit density, construction and finishing all influence softness, resilience, warmth and wear.
Specialist Italian yarns
Depending on the garment, Subellotti works with yarns from established Italian specialists including Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, Loro Piana and Cariaggi. A yarn maker is named on a product page only when it has been confirmed for that specific garment.
Made in Italy
Specialist workshops translate material into proportion, structure and comfort. Depending on the design, work may include fully fashioned knitting, carefully joined seams, collar and cuff attachment, washing, pressing and final inspection.
Controlled production
Limited quantities and made-to-order production help avoid unnecessary overproduction while allowing closer attention to consistency, construction and fit. This is not scarcity as theatre; it is a practical way to protect quality.
Care and longevity
Fine knitwear should rest between wears, be washed only when necessary and stored clean and folded. Always follow the sewn-in care label for the specific garment.
